Let’s begin here.

Let’s begin here.

What have you created while afraid?

If you’ve found your way here, thank you for entering this small, sacred space while it is still learning how to bloom.

My name is Ty. I am an artist. A woman.
And, like you, a collection of strange, tender, unfinished things that make a person an individual.

This week, I am preparing to launch Forged by Fire Art Studio, and I am, quite honestly, terrified.

Fear is such an odd, intimate thing. It steals sleep. Blunts appetite.
Drains the body of its simplest instincts. It is one of the most human emotions we carry, yet it robs us of all of the things that make us human.

And sometimes, only sometimes, it becomes grit and tenacity.

But not yet.

Right now, the grit hasn’t arrived. I am still in the water, still learning how to swim.

Creating and becoming can feel like drowning, even when it is beautiful.

So tonight, instead of pretending to be brave, I’ll do something else.

I’ll raise a glass to becoming. To the unfinished. To the courage that hasn’t shown up yet, but will if we let it.

And when it does, we’ll raise another.

To Us Doing It Afraid
